Rebuke of Anti-Paulism and Christianity’s Anti-Torah Foundations

Apr 27, 2015 | False Doctrines & Inaccuracies |

This discussion has not yet been rewritten, presented, or recorded in the updated multi-part format.  That will occur as God wills to provide me the time and energy to do so.

This is a lengthy discussion. The reason for this is that there are so many ways and so much material with which to refute the spiritually damaging influence of anti-Paulism. Within it I will define anti-Paulism and enumerate some of the primary reasons why allegedly sincere individuals who generally once accepted Paul’s epistles suddenly change faces and become ferocious anti-Paulists. I will also explain why anti-Paulists and their fellow counter missionaries have a distinct advantage when seeking to entrap an unsuspecting distraught Christian who has become aware of the severity of Christianity’s errors. I will elaborate on what those advantages are and how they are deviously exploited by anti-Paulists and counter missionaries.

As a necessary part of the discussion, I will prove that “Oral Torah” (verbal teachings passed down from Moses to explain and clarify Scripture) is most definitely a legitimate concept. I have a dedicated article specific to the purpose of proving the legitimacy of Oral Torah, and I very strongly suggest that you read or listen to that material. There is a limited amount of necessary duplication here that is also present within that separate article; however, I greatly expand upon the discussion of “Oral Torah” within that other writing.

The reason for the duplication is because in order to understand the errors of anti-Paulism a person must grasp the importance of Oral Torah and the application of a proper contextual mindset.

I therefore felt that at least some of the material needs to be included within the discussion you are now reading in order to understand the points made herein.

Please forgive my persistence, but I cannot over emphasize that if you are sincerely wanting to grasp the errors of anti-Paulism, it is absolutely essential that you read that discussion when directed within this article. You will see this when I begin to explain the reasons for anti-Paulism. Reasons one through three require you to read the “Oral Torah” discussion, and I will direct you to that study when that is necessary.

An Example of a Typical Exchange with an Anti-Paulist:

After initially composing this discussion I received an email from a typical anti-Paulist who exemplifies every error discussed herein. Despite the severe, yet sincere ignorance and bias he and all anti-Paulist display, I felt that it was useful to include his example within this article by quoting from an email exchange we had. Doing so allows the reader to witness firsthand just how biased and misinformed the typical anti-Paulist’s mind can be. It illustrates an excellent object lesson of the anti-Paulist mentality to those unaware of it.

I will present the email exchange below and identify various items found within them where useful. I have not quoted a portion of his second email due to it being deranged ramblings that I feel does not warrant exposure and that presents some of the typical nonsense that is often used to allegedly “prove” Paul is a fraud. Such lunacy is not worthy of print.

Furthermore, the demeanor of the anti-Paulists that is demonstrated within the portion of our exchange that I do not quote is worrisome because it typifies a homicidal hatred of Paul, which is common among anti-Paulists. I have protected the individual’s identity by identifying him with the alias, “Zombie”. Zombie’s words are shown in italics and mine utilize a normal bold text font. I separate each email using a short line of asterisks like so: ********************************************.

I will comment within the quoted email exchange to point out some of the typical problems with anti-Paulists. My comments will be red text within braces {…}.

Here is the email exchange:

Hello,

I am going to keep it to the point, short and sweet. I am virulently anti-Paul, believing totally and absolutely he is the Anti-Christ (I probably dislike him as much as James did, but then I know more about Paul than your average bear too).

{Note the ultra-biased and unfounded assumption that James (Yacov) opposed Paul. Often you will see similar assumptions from anti-Paulists regarding numerous issues they similarly dream up in their uninformed imaginations.

In point of fact, there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that James disliked Paul. Paul was among those specifically chosen by James to carry the letter from Jerusalem to other Messianic communities (Acts 15:13-29). James (Yacov in Hebrew) was the physical brother of Yeshua and the Nasi (head) of the young Messianic community. He would not have chosen Paul if he differed with him as anti-Paulists regularly suggest.

It is very common for persons of high intelligence to sometimes forget that their audience may not have the intellectual capacity to fully or properly understand their statements. We have all experienced this at one time or another as either the teacher or the one being taught by someone we couldn’t understand. A perfect example is a very young child being taught by an adult. Often the child has not yet developed intellectually to be able to understand.

Paul was of VERY high Torah intellect. I believe him to have probably been a Torah genius. The epistle of James may indeed have been composed to correct a misinterpretation some may have had regarding Paul’s epistles and others who were probably spreading the gospel, but it was not written to rebuke Paul or counter his teachings. Instead, it was a clarification of what Paul really meant to those not as developed in the knowledge of Torah as were Paul and James. This same Torah ignorance is present among anti-Paulists and Christians, which is why they also misinterpret Paul.}

Why and what reason do you have for defending him (Is not the idea to get the ‘victory over the beast’ Rev 15:2, and you know if you still subscribe or partake in the teachings of evil [denying the Holy and Eternal Word of YHVH], you aren’t actually getting the victory, know what I mean)?

{Another foolish action typical of anti-Paulists. They hurl brutally callous and fiendish accusations against Paul such as here equating him to “the beast” and in the previous paragraph as “the Anti-Christ”. Their blind and biased hatred of Paul knows no bounds.

He also strongly implies that anyone who accepts the apostle Paul is damned, which is also rather common among anti-Paulists.}

A link is fine, if you or someone else has covered this already. I’m not super interested in debate, so I won’t bother you again 🙂 [if I can help it] because I believe that with Yashua’s assistance acting as our Paraclete and/or High Priest and King after the order of Melchizedek, each individual is sovereign before God in the Judgment, so, you know, you need to make up your own mind.

{Yet another typical anti-Paulist characteristic is demonstrated by the obvious implication that he views himself as highly intelligent and wise. Of course, all it really displays is his extreme arrogance despite his being Torah illiterate.}

However, if I’m missing something…I NEED to know…

{As you will see as you read his remaining emails, he actually has no intention of changing his mind and is lying with his implied “need” to know more. This insincerity is yet again very typical of anti-Paulists.}

********************************************

My response: Have you read the article about him? It appears you have not. You asked if you have missed something. The answer may be you missed reading the article.

{I ask a common question: has he even looked at the evidence proving anti-Paulism to be incorrect? A single sentence email from him that I did not include as part of the exchange due to it being so brief proves he had not even viewed the website at all other than I suppose single article. The sentence from the email I did not quote was, “Sorry the page I was on had no links on it, or home button, etc…I will go look thanks. He had not even been to the homepage or any other page on the site that has links, which of course are the main site pages.

Yet another typical anti-Paulist characteristic: there refusal to evaluate their opinions, consider that they may be wrong, or to study material that would prove such.}

********************************************

{He now responds after viewing this article; however, by noting the timestamp of when I last responded and how quickly he sent this response I know for a fact that he actually did not even read the article since he did not have time to do so. Instead, he probably read only a few paragraphs and stopped. Here we again we see the common characteristic of anti-Paulist’s arrogant bias and refusal to consider they may be wrong. Proof he did not read beyond a a couple of paragraphs is conclusively proven as this email conversation continues. When provided information that would correct their error they simply ignore it, but the same situation generally occurs with anti-Torah Christians. }

Sometime when you aren’t so angry and defensive your going to have to revise this article 😉

“Rebuke of Anti-Paulism and Christianity’s anti-Torah foundation”

You can’t possibly know what is in other peoples heart as you profess, and no…not all of us are ignorant of Torah, besides Paul’s own writing is about as Anti-Torah as you can get:

{He IS ignorant of Torah, and I prove it by my response following this and his reply. You will see.}

Mat 5:22 Yet I am saying to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be liable to the judging. Yet whoever may be saying to his brother, ‘Raka [fool]!’ shall be liable to the Sanhedrin. Yet whoever may be saying, ‘Stupid!’ shall be liable to the Gehenna of fire.

{I guess he has never read Proverbs in which the term “fool” is often used. He shows ignorance and provides evidence that he has probably never even read the entire Bible. Also, he is not among those I would consider my “brother” since he is actually anti-Torah and practicing severe error; therefore, my calling him a fool is not against the teachings of Messiah. Actually, the “fools” discussed in Proverbs often apply directly to those like him.}

You don’t want to hear it but you have left the door open to evil (for reasons I’m not sure of, it isn’t evident in your writing) so much of your other writing is DEAD ON, concise and extremely well thought through. ???

{For the sake of the reader the rest of his mindless diatribe in this specific email from him is not shown.}

********************************************

{I reply in a common manner by asking if he has ever even studied Torah. His answer shows he hasn’t and that his knowledge of Torah is sorely lacking.}

My response: Please provide a list of Judaic books you have read – books that delve into the crucial Oral Torah? How many of the fundamental books I list on my recommended reading page are among them?

You say you are not ignorant of Torah? Prove it please.

I have a very large Judaica library that includes far more than I list. What about you? Do you or do you not revere and study Oral Torah?

********************************************

{His response below proves conclusively, as I stated earlier, that he never read the article. If he had, he would have known quickly that it is dominated by a discussion of Oral Torah, a fact he did not know. Note also that he avoids the questions I asked in my previous reply because if he were honest his answer would be that his actual knowledge of Torah, which includes oral Torah, is quite insufficient and that he has actually never studied oral Torah.  And yet he has the audacity to claim that Paul is anti-Torah when he, himself, hardly has any knowledge of Torah so as to be able to make such a judgement?

He displays yet another typical anti-Paulist characteristic – that of avoiding the facts, refusing to admit ignorance, and hurling insults and accusations against those more knowledgeable than themselves because of their pride which prevents them from admitting their own incompetence.

He perfectly exemplifies the severe ignorance, blind ultra-bias, and laziness common to anti-Paulists, each of which I discuss in this article.}

Ooohhhh, your a Pharisee…well that explains a lot…far be it from me to dissuade you from your master…I thought you followed Yashua and YHVH. I saw that you desired the lie, but couldn’t figure it out based on your written stance (what I read) but now I know why…well that’s sad, truly 😉 but at least you answered my question and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart it has been very educational.

I won’t waste any more of your time…BTW you could just tell people like me that up front you know 😉 we all know what it means…

Well now, even more than before…may the Peace of YHVH be with you…may YHVH grant you Wisdom and Understanding

{He has no desire for there to be “peace” with me. He is simply being bitterly sarcastic, a fact proven by the winks 😉 that he includes in his email.}

The end of the quote.

His last email is particularly enlightening since it perfectly demonstrates the mindset of anti-Paulists that I discuss within this article when I focus upon the Torah ignorance, extreme close-minded bias, bitterness, and laziness that is common to all anti-Paulists. I am very glad Zombie contacted me since it allowed me to precisely illustrate the problem using an actual conversation with an anti-Paulist. I sent him a final email in which I sincerely thanked him for providing useful material to illustrate the extreme errors of anti-Paulism that I could include within this discussion.

Anti-Paulism is a classic example of a “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” spiritual scenario. With anti-Paulists, a spiritual “Mr. Hyde” manifests himself in destructive ways. The material presented to refute anti-Paulism applies equally well to addressing the standard anti-Torah error of Christianity. But first I want to elaborate on the approach I will be taking in this discussion.

The Approach I Utilize to Refute Anti-Paulism:

I am firmly convinced that the most crucial factor necessary to grasp truth is a proper mindset – a correct context from which to approach Scripture. If a person has the wrong mindset there is no way they will ever learn truth. No matter how much debate, arguing, or presentation of material, without a correct mindset it is all for naught. This holds true even if the individual is dedicated to study. The study, no matter how extensive, will never produce understanding and a knowledge of Truth if is it undertaken from the biased confines of a defective context.  Study without context is a recipe for futility.

I often get correspondence from people who are being assailed by anti-Paulists, who are considering becoming an anti-Paulist, or who already are an anti-Paulist. The same goes for communication from Christians who are convinced that the New Testament – and Paul’s epistles – teach that the Torah has been nullified or abolished through Christ. In each case they will present one and usually numerous alleged “proofs” that “the Law” is no longer in effect or, in the case of anti-Paulists, that Paul is a false apostle since they think that is what Paul teaches. They request or demand that I respond. In the past I did, and all it generated was an endless stream of such communication with them rarely changing their minds. I eventually realized that the problem is not the proofs or lack thereof; the problem is the severely flawed contextual mindset they apply.

Therefore, I realized it was time to change my approach. Obviously, batting away pitch after pitch thrown my way by Christians and anti-Paulists only caused more pitches to be thrown. It was and is fruitless and a waste of time. That is why I will no longer waste time with those who obviously need to totally restructure their entire mindset. It is also why I refuse to engage in debate.

Such people are quite literally in need of a complete overhaul of HOW they think.

They need to change the WAY they think by learning the correct contextual mindset that should be applied to Scripture. If their mindset is not proper, any time spent refuting their arguments is wasted. As the saying goes, “a man convinced against his will is a man of the same opinion still.” The “will” is driven by the contextual approach – the mindset. That must first be corrected before truth can be conveyed.

So, the problem with such people is that they approach the New Testament in general and Paul’s material in particular with a terribly defective mindset. It is true for Christians and also for anti-Paulists. In both cases their mindset regarding what they think the New Testament is teaching is severely flawed and drives them to extreme errors in their understanding.

I briefly explained the origins for this faulty mindset in my “It is Time” article. As I state in that article:

“It was shrewdly accomplished when the emperors, for the purpose of strengthening their political security and power, consolidated the various heathen religions of the empire into what is now called “Christianity”. The foremost of those emperors was “Constantine the Great”, the emperor from 306 to 337CE and also know as “Constantine I”. It was he who first craftily devised the plan in the fourth century. That newly amalgamated religion was declared the religion of the empire by him in 324CE. It is therefore no accident that he was declared a “saint” of the “church” and is revered as such within the Christian world despite his loathsome personal character revealed by the facts of history. And of course the emperor made himself the head of that synthesized religion, a position that eventually evolved into what is now known as the “Pope” of Roman Catholicism, from which virtually all current Christian denominations originated. It is to that fourth century period in history we can point as the time in which the true faith described in the New Testament was derailed, kidnapped, perverted, and entirely redefined.

It is time to correct that error and return “Christianity” to its rightful and Biblical truths!

The mindset debacle became a permanent fixture in Christianity in the fourth century and has remained so to this day. It is time for it to change, and the current proliferation of Torah teaching due to there finally being translations of writings into languages that are more common than those in which they were written is causing the correction to slowly occur. In particular the growth of so many English translations is having an impact since it opens the door to millions upon millions of potential readers. This article you are reading is only a tiny part of an end-time movement that is slowly but surely correcting the intentional Roman instigated mindset change of the fourth century by proclaiming and promoting HOW Scripture should actually be studied and exposing the monstrously defective standard Christian approach.

The tactic I apply is to try and correct the mindset of people so that if they are true “students”, which is what “disciple” means, they will be able to grasp truth on their own without having to rely so much on persuasion from others. A proper Torah mindset – the traditional mindset – is crucial. Christians do not have it and neither do anti-Paulists even though they think they do. They think that by having reverence for Torah their mindset is correct. They are wrong even though they are at least heading in the right direction.

Revering Torah and having the Torah mindset are not the same!

Therefore, my approach is not to refute specific arguments. Instead, I aim to illustrate how their incorrect contextual mindset is the root of the entire problem regarding whether or not the New Testament, and Paul’s epistles, are anti-Torah. If a person corrects their approach to HOW they study Scripture, and repairs the faulty mindset they apply to those studies, then the problem resolves itself. However, this is true only if one is sincerely seeking truth and willing to undertake what may be a lengthy series of study.

It will require dedication – the likes of which most people rarely pursue. And it will require the reading of books – possibly numerous books – to finally decipher and discover the mindset necessary. If you are unwilling to do that, then please do not claim that you love God nor Messiah since if you are not even willing to study a few books you obviously do not love them.

The sages wisely state, “Study is the highest form of worship.”, and they are absolutely correct. Willingness of a person to undertake intense study in their search for truth is the most powerful evidence existing of one’s devotion to The Eternal Father. Unwillingness is evidence of the opposite.

Whether or not a person is willing to apply themselves to the extent necessary is not my problem. It is theirs. They will have to answer to the Eternal Creator for themselves. I will have done my job in my service to The Most High regardless as I strive to assist them in their search for Eternal Truth.

Anti-Paulism: Definition and Danger

Anti-Paulism is a subset of counter-missionary (anti-missionary) goals, which makes it a very important and often used element within the counter-missionary strategy.  The goal of counter-missionaries is to attack in as many conceivable ways as possible the New Testament and the message presented therein, which of course includes the role, position, authority, and accomplishments of Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus the Christ). Anti-Paulism goes far in accomplishing this goal since by casting doubt upon Paul doubt is cast upon the entire New Testament.

Anti-Paul ideology rejects Paul’s epistles. Though they often do not admit it, anti-Paulism also brings into question the book of Acts, parts of 2 Peter (since it supports Paul), and other New Testament writings.  They may say that they do not reject anything other than Paul’s alleged epistles; however, I will show in this article that such is not possible since rejecting Paul necessitates rejection of additional New Testament material or, at the very least, brings into question those other writings.

Sometimes instead of “rejecting” Paul anti-Paulists simply strongly “doubt” Paul’s legitimacy or only “partially” accept Paul’s writings.

Regardless of whether it is rejection or doubting of Paul the end result is that the New Testament is reduced to a smoldering ruin, which is actually the true objective of many anti-Paulists and definitely the objective of all counter missionaries.

Followers of this emerging end-time wickedness consider Paul one or usually all of the following, and this is only a short list of the terminology they use to ridicule Paul:

  1. a somewhat ignorant man who taught many errors,
  2. an intentional “conspirator” who sought to undermine the true Messianic faith by promoting falsehood,
  3. the “Beast”,
  4. a servant of Satan,
  5. the “antichrist”, or
  6. a false “prophet” – sometimes identifying him as the false prophet mentioned in the book of Revelation.

Anti-Paulists despise Paul and commonly label him with all manner of slanderous, wickedly vile accusations.  You will often hear anti-Paulists refer to Christianity as “Paulianity,” especially when they will not be overheard by others not yet aware of their hatred of Paul and Christianity.  I also sometimes refer to Christianity as “Paulianity” when discussing Christianity’s tragic misrepresentation of Paul, but not with the vileness of mind or intent present in anti-Paulists.

An unrealistically extreme and fanatical dislike of “Christian” things often drives them to distort the interpretation of whatever remains of the New Testament after Paul’s epistles are discarded or to refuse to accept other parts of the New Testament. Having done this they then define for themselves a pseudo-New Testament based counterfeit Messianism with a distorted “Torah” definition that they, themselves, establish. Many simply end up disregarding the New Testament and either convert to Judaism, create their own unique flavor of “Judaism” or “Messianism, or – in some cases – disregard belief in God entirely.

I will show later in this discussion how anti-Paulists actually have the same mindset as those Christians they so despise with regard to their ignorance and misunderstanding of Paul’s epistles due to their simple-minded foolishness.

Ignorance. That is the primary factor common to anti-Paulists. They are extremely ignorant of Torah. It is just that simple. Sadly, the same applies to most Christians.

Anti-Paul teachings are not just against Paul.  No.  They are far worse since in truth they represent a direct attack on the reliability of the entirety of the New Testament writings.  And therein lies the core heart of evil present in the anti-Paul agenda and the primary factor ignored by most who become ensnared in anti-Paulism.  The shocking level of disregard for this extremely severe issue among those who fall under the demonic spell of anti-Paulism or who sympathize and fellowship with anti-Paul activists reveals a stunning fault in not just their faith, but also in their grasp of the importance of the New Testament writings. It also reveals their stupidity with regard to what constitutes Torah.

To be blunt, all who embrace, defend, sympathize with, or fellowship with anti-Paul crusaders are lacking proper respect for the New Testament despite the likely denial of such among some who fellowship with such wickedness.  Amazingly, most of them consider persons like myself to be harsh, unloving, divisive, “close-minded,” and in general bad for standing firm against any sort of fellowship with anti-Paulists who shred over 60 percent of the New Testament writings.  It puzzles me how flippantly many so-called “Messianics” can toss the majority of the New Testament into the sewer and/or support an agenda that strikes at the very heart of New Testament reliability.

I make no apology for choosing to avoid fellowship with anti-Paulists.

Here is how anti-Paulists destroy faith in the reliability of the New Testament.

  1. There are 27 books in the New Testament. (27)
  2. Paul wrote 13 of those books, making him the most prolific New Testament author. (13)
  3. Acts very much supports Paul, which means anyone who accepts Acts must also accept Paul as a legitimate author.  Most anti-Paulists claim to accept Acts.  However, they cannot possibly accept the strongly pro-Paul position of Acts, which means they are lying when they state that Acts is acceptable to them. (1)
  4. 2 Peter very much supports Paul in the 2 Peter 3:14-17.  Once again, many anti-Paulists claim to accept 2 Peter; however, that is also impossible if they reject Paul.  Of course, they may just reject where Peter shows unambiguous support for Paul. (1)
  5. Since Luke wrote Acts, and despite what anti-Paulists may claim regarding their acceptance of Acts, then for anti-Paulists counter-missionaries to be consistent the gospel of Luke must also be – at the very least – “doubted” by anti-Paulists. (1)
  6. Most scholars believe Paul wrote the book of Hebrews. (1)

Now for the factual math:

    1. Assuming only Paul’s epistles are rejected we get 13/27 = 48 percent of the New Testament books are rejected.
    2. Acts must be added to the books rejected by anti-Paulists despite their false claims otherwise.  Read the book of Acts and judge for yourself if it supports Paul or not.  It very much does support Paul; therefore, unless anti-Paulists are moronically stupid they must see that Acts cannot be retained if Paul is rejected.  But of course they are not stupid.  They are simply beyond the reach of common sense and reason due to the strong power hatred holds over them.  So, when Acts is added we see that now 14/27 = 52 percent of the New Testament books must be rejected by anti-Paulists.
    3. Now there is 2 Peter.  Since Peter strongly endorses Paul his words must now also be “suspicious” for consistency to be maintained by anti-Paulists.  That adds to 15/27 = 56 percent of the New Testament books are rejected.  As you can see, the percentage of the New Testament rejected or “doubted” by anti-Paulists counter-missionaries is adding up.
    4. Luke is the author of Acts; therefore, let’s now add the gospel of Luke to the list of writings tarnished by anti-Paulism. Consistency requires that anti-Paulists must consider Luke to be a “co-conspirator” with Paul due to his powerful endorsement of Paul in Acts.  So we now have 16/27 = 59 percent of the New Testament books are rejected.

As I stated Luke wrote Acts, not Paul; therefore, the common use of passages from Acts to allegedly prove Paul to be a lying false apostle is completely absurd! He didn’t even write it! How can Paul be blamed for something he did not even write? And thus we see how, as I said, Acts is most certainly a target for anti-Paulist New Testament shredders. With their typical use of Acts as they argue against Paul – something Paul did not even write – we have evidence of the depth of blind hatred anti-Paulists have – hatred that turns them into blundering idiots at times.

  1. Finally, the book of Hebrews must also fall under “suspicion” by anti-Paulists since so many scholars feel it was authored by Paul.  So we now have 17/27 = 63 percent of the New Testament books are rejected.
  2. At a bare minimum, Paul’s epistles and Acts must be rejected by anti-Paulists counter-missionaries; therefore, a minimum of at least 52 percent of the New Testament books are flushed into the sewer by anti-Paulists.  For them to claim otherwise is nothing less that blatant lies.
  3. When the other books that are necessary for anti-Paulists to be consistent are counted we see that, indeed, 63 percent of the New Testament books must either be rejected or “doubted” by anti-Paulists; thus, my statement that “over 60 percent” of the New Testament is endangered by anti-Paulists is proven correct.

So, through simple math I have proven that the majority of the New Testament books must be rejected by anti-Paulists.  Anti-Paulists utilize trickery and misrepresentation of facts as they try to conceal the actual devastation they bring upon the New Testament with their anti-Paulism ideology.

The facts just presented provide the answer to those anti-Paulists who ask, “If Paul is so pro-Torah, why doesn’t Judaism support his teachings?   Why do they consider Paul an anti-Torah traitor?”

Obviously, Judaism and Judaic based counter missionaries will never support Paul for the simple reason that support for Paul equals support for the New Testament.  Instead, those very counter missionaries and supporters of Judaism love to see anti-Paulists shred the New Testament.  They cheer from the sidelines as anti-Paulists attack Paul and thus do irreparable damage to the New Testament writings.

Paul’s acceptance of Yeshua as the suffering servant Messiah ben Yosef (Joseph) and teachings of Yeshua’s return as Messiah ben David is completely unacceptable to Judaism.  Worse still is Paul’s very strong “God is impartial” message, which is a direct affront to the elitism and exclusivity found within the teachings of Judaism.  Paul, more than any other New Testament writer, is the most vocal proponent of the impartiality of God, and for Judaism that is an infuriating concept – it was then and it still is now.

Anyone who thinks Judaism would defend the very real pro-Torah messages of the New Testament and Paul’s writings, even if they know it to be so, is truly naive.  Judaic counter missionaries prefer to sit back and watch gleefully as anti-Paulists do their work for them.

Significantly, anti-Paulists present The Eternal Living God as powerless to guide and nurture the canonization of the New Testament in such a way as to retain truth.  They are constantly presenting the view that the New Testament is hopelessly corrupt and unreliable.  It is an undenable fact that the New Testament writings are not 100 percent perfect and that some corruption and translation error exists; however, they are still highly reliable and, importantly, self-correcting.  Perfection is totally unnecessary for truth to be transmitted as long as reliability is present.

Anti-Paulists quite literally make The Living God out to be rather weak – a feeble and helpless God who is unable to guide a reliable transmittal of the Messianic writings. In this area anti-Paulists are desecrating and blaspheming the Almighty Living God.  Their rejection of God’s guiding hand is a particularly insidious characteristic they possess and one for which they are deserving of the harshest rebuke.

Notably, they and their fellow counter-missionaries (at least those of a Judaic persuasion) do not hold the same view of the Tanakh (Tah-NOCK, which is the Older Testament) even though there are far fewer manuscripts with which to check accuracy and more chances and time for corruption to occur.  The revolting double standard they apply to the New Testament versus the Tanakh is obvious. Whereas I firmly believe the Tanakh as we have it today is extremely reliable, the double standard nonetheless exist.

The Advantages and Exploitive Tactics of Anti-Paulists and other Counter Missionary Groups:

Before discussing the reasons for anti-Paulism, I believe it to be important to first discuss how they structure their approach. Anti-Paulists, and all other counter missionaries actually, have distinct advantages in pursuing their agenda, and they know it. In fact, they expect it, plan for it, and develop their tactics to specifically benefit from it. The best analogy is that of a wolf and a stray injured lamb that has wandered from the flock or been left for dead due to its injury. It is an easy scenario to imagine.

The lamb is lost and does not know which direction to take. Darkness is falling. It is growing cold. Panting, a muffled growl, and the rustle of leaves can be heard in the forest just to the left of the clearing in which it lies exposed. It is scared, hungry, exhausted, injured, abandoned, emotionally distraught, tired, confused, defenseless, and very, very lonely. All it wants is the comfort of its mother – the fellowship of a trusted friend – the protection and peace of a flock. Is that too much to ask? Please! Are their no friends to comfort it? Is their anyone who cares? Where are the others? Why did they leave it? Is it because … they … no … longer … love .. it? …

And so the full impact of the terror and destitution hits … All hope is lost … ANY help will now be considered a blessing and gift from God.

It is extremely weak, vulnerable, and easy prey. Even a moderate gust of wind could knock it to the ground if it were able to stand. So sad, and yet such a tasty treat to the hungry wolf scurrying into position just to the left of the clearing waiting for the sun to set. Oops! It did not mean to growl, but he couldn’t help himself. The assurance of such an easy and tasty kill caused it to loose focus for a moment. Oh well, no worries. There is no one around to assist the lamb and it certainly does not have the ability to fight. Ha! What a tender little weakling. Tonight will be good for the wolf, and a full belly of freshly killed warm lamb meat always results in the most restful sleep.

Picture it in your mind. Feel it. Put yourself in the skin of that trembling, terrified, woefully sad and lonely little lamb. It is truly heart breaking to consider the dismal circumstances of such a poor helpless little creature of such beauty, innocence, and grace. Death is knocking. It is only a matter of time. Today was its last day on earth. Tomorrow it will be wolf dung on the forest floor.

Easy prey. That is the key. Anti-Paulists are like wolves looking for the easy kill.

Like wolves, they do not waste time with stronger prey or even plan on attempting to bring them down because they realize they may get injured themselves and likely not be able to feast upon the tender meat of their victim. At the very least, even if they could manage to subdue such prey they know that such assaults will leave them battered, scarred, and very tired. They prefer to minimize their physical and mental exertion if at all possible. Also, they know that it is just a matter of time before the unchallenging, naive, and basically defenseless lamb or some other injured creature wanders away or gets discarded from the protection of their herd or flock and into the the piercing, lustful gaze of the counter missionary/anti-Paulist – oops, I mean wolf.

So they sit patiently – blood from the last kill dripping from their snout, blood stains covering their fur after ripping apart the last injured victim, panting, scheming, positioning, watching, waiting. …

Anti-Paulists are the religious equivalent of hungry wolves. Every advantage the wolf looks to exploit the anti-Paulist looks to exploit also. And I mean that quite literally. Though the wolf and lamb are an imagined scenario, the anti-Paulists wolves and their victims are very real. And a human being is far more valuable than an animal – and every bit as much in need of love, fellowship, and comfort.

Humans feel physical and emotional pain. Humans feel isolation and loneliness. The precious human can feel every emotion – and more – as can the little lamb. The human being is the grandest of creations in whom the Divine spark of The Eternal rests. Mankind is unique above all that God has fashioned from His sublime and perfect Will. Humans are precious beyond the limits of any price. Humans, above all else, hunger and thirst for love even if they do not realize it. That primal human need is buried within all mankind and struggling throughout all lives of all generations to be filled. And yes, humans too – in their innermost being where the Divine spark rests – are truly beautiful, innocent, and gracious even if they do not show it outwardly. Inside, all humans are precious beyond measure in the sight of God. ALL of them.

And … Humans can be vulnerable and become easy prey to those who seek to exploit their weaknesses. … And evil lurks in the shadows every moment lusting to do just that.

There is a reason I placed those terms which defined the lamb’s condition in bold letters. It is because that is exactly what anti-Paulists and all other counter missionaries look for when selecting their prey or composing their deceitful and defective arguments. Their entire strategy depends on their victims meeting at least some of those conditions; otherwise, they know there will be no “kill” for them to feast upon.

There is, however, one major difference between the wolf and lamb analogy when it is applied to anti-Paulism. That difference is that after being victimized by the wolf, the lamb turns into a wolf also. In fact, some of the most ferocious, biased, and moronic anti-Paulists are those who were naive and unintelligent enough to fall for the weak and dimwitted arguments of anti-Paulism. Once “converted” to their new counter missionary religion they usually loose most of their common sense, become addicted to the drug-like idiocy of anti-Paulists, enter into a cocoon of foolish nonsensical spiritual insanity, and emerge as ultra-biased anti-Paul zombies. Though to be honest, if they had any common sense they would never have fallen for the foolish anti-Paul arguments to begin with.

I will describe the typical individual representing the injured lamb that is targeted by anti-Paulists.

They are virtually always Christians or recent ex-Christians who have come to the realization that Christianity is infested with severe error – a realization that has become more and more apparent. Deep within their souls they know – and have known for some time – that something is seriously wrong with Christianity. They may have tried to ignore the feeling, but it burned within them with an intensity that was impossible to ignore.

God has been knocking, but they’ve been afraid to answer the door.

Then they decide to open the door, and the realization hits that they must make a change. They realize there is no turning back. The truth they are being shown is simply too obvious. They have probably been in a state of mental anguish for months or years as they tried to decide what to do about their growing consciousness of the many unscriptural doctrines and their distrust of Christianity. They realize they simply cannot sit in a pew ever again since to do so would mean having to restrain themselves constantly to keep from shouting out:

“NOOOO! You are WRONG! Stop worshiping idols! Stop hating Torah! I can’t take this desecration of God and opposition to His teachings any longer!

Please God! Shepherd me into your pasture of unspoiled truth!”

At such a point the distraught Christian is at a point of infantile knowledge of Torah. They have likely never really studied it in depth if at all. At best, they have simply recognized how the literal written “Torah” of the Holy Bible proves Christianity to be wrong; however, at such a point they are much further from actually grasping Torah than they think. They truly are babies – having just exited the womb and in need of fundamental nourishment – nourishment they will never receive from anti-Paulists or Christians since such people do not possess the intellectual ability to provide it.

Such a person – Christian or recent ex-Christian – is experiencing virtually all of the emotions that the lamb felt after finding itself alone and isolated. They are

  1. scared (their faith is wrecked),
  2. hungry (for answers),
  3. exhausted (from fighting to get others to understand),
  4. injured (from the hurtful and condemning words of others),
  5. abandoned (by their church, friends, and often their family),
  6. emotionally distraught (for obvious reasons)
  7. tired (from the battle),
  8. confused (where do they go now? what is the truth?),
  9. defenseless (their lack of knowledge of the actual Torah leaves them extremely exposed to other errors),
  10. and very, very lonely (They are alone – left in the dust and ashes of condemnation from those whom they thought loved them).
  11. All they want is comfort – the fellowship of a trusted friend – the protection and peace of a new spiritual flock. Is that too much to ask? Are their no friends to comfort them and lead them to truth? Is their anyone who cares? Where are the others? Surely they are not alone in this way of thinking? Why did their trusted friends in Christianity leave them and refuse to listen?

They are also often angry because of the lies they have been taught, which makes their emotional condition even more precarious and ripe for exploitation.

In such a state anti-Paulists have an enormous advantage in being able to persuade the newly emerged babes of Torah to adopt their own ignorance. They are precisely where anti-Paulists wolves want them to be, and at this point they become an “easy kill”. The wolfish mouths of anti-Paulists fools drool over the site of just such a person, and then they pounce upon their emotionally weakened prey using their deceitful and ignorant arguments. They take advantage of each and every emotion mentioned above that is felt by the distraught ex-Christian much like a pedophile giving candy to a child, offering them “friendship” and “protection”, and taking advantage of the innocent in any way necessary in order to further his wicked goals.

The word for it is exploitation. Anti-Paulists and their fellow counter missionaries are masters of exploitation.

Reasons for Anti-Paulism:

There are a number of basic reasons why people become anti-Paulists, some of which also happen to be why Christians misinterpret Paul. Among them are:

  1. Severe ignorance of the definition of “Torah” and what constitutes its various components. This is by far the dominant factor common to anti-Paulists (and Christians). It is THE mother of all the other errors listed.
  2. A rejection, in most cases, of the “Oral” Torah or components of Oral Torah such as mussar and kabbalah within which support is easily found for Paul’s material.
  3. Ignorance of the rabbinic method which Paul sometimes used.
  4. Paul is a very easy target for anti-Paulists. It is easy to blame Paul for Christianity’s anti-Torah error. He is the scapegoat for the lazy and others too mentally sluggish to really undertake sincere study, which directly applies to …
  5. Laziness and an impatient “fast food” spiritual mentality in their approach to searching for truth – the “I want an answer cheap and I want it now!” mentality. I will describe a perfect example of this using an actual example of someone who was, himself, too prideful to admit his ignorance and too lazy to undertake the necessary regime of study that would eventually lead him to truth.
  6. A serious and naive lack of intelligence among those willing to accept nonsensical and ridiculously weak arguments that allegedly “prove” Paul to be a fraud. This is an issue that does not impact the Christian rejection of Torah. It is problem unique to the unthinking victims of anti-Paulism. Since there are so many such weak arguments, I will not devote a separate section to refuting them. To do so would necessitate an entirely separate and very lengthy writing. Instead, I will provide the following itemized list of a few of the primary ones used by anti-Paulists:
    1. Feminism – women who covet authority that Torah does not give them. It is no coincidence that women are often among the most zealous haters of Paul and his writings.
    2. A silly scrutiny regarding what anti-Paulists see as differences, which are actually trivial, in the description of Paul’s conversion experience on the road to Damascus. Note: This is true even though Acts, in which most of that written record is found, was written by someone other than Paul.
    3. The overly strict formal approach taken to Paul’s epistles – forgetting they were generally informal personal letters with no intention that they should be considered “scripture”. They should not be scrutinized or judged in the same way as formal, official doctrinal dissertations.
    4. Predestination and the failure of some anti-Paulists to understand the Judaic Torah based traditional understanding regarding the sovereignty of God which Paul clearly followed.
    5. Unnecessary and outrageously idiotic concern and fixation regarding the untranslated Greek word “apostle”.
    6. Guilt by association: the ridiculous assumption by anti-Paulists that the false apostle being referenced in a rebuke of the church at Ephesus found in Revelation 2:2 refers to Paul. This actually follows well the last specific error just listed and is an example of how one error leads to others much like a single cancer cell can spread the disease throughout the entire body.
    7. The issue of eating “food sacrificed to idols” that Paul discusses in one of his Corinthian letters is sometimes used to “prove” Paul is a false teacher. However, his statements are actually Torah compliant or, at worst, only very slightly deviates from established Oral Torah. But since anti-Paulists are ignorant of, or reject, Oral Torah, they do not realize that Paul is in agreement with Torah. I intend to include proof of this within the “Oral Torah” article by quoting from Mishneh Torah, one of the most revered Torah defining Judaic publications of all time. That exhaustive work from one of history’s greatest Torah scholars agrees or only slightly disagrees (depending upon the accuracy of a single word in Paul’s epistle) with Paul’s statements.
  7. Prideful arrogance and a tunnel-vision approach to anything related to Paul in the New Testament which creates a fanatical stubbornness of mind blinding them to seeing beyond their bias. A rigidly biased interpretation of Paul’s epistles because of which they refuse to consider alternate interpretations.
  8. And finally, the last major reason for anti-Paulism is a failure to grasp what was generally the primary intent of Paul’s letters.

Generally, anti-Paulists have convinced themselves that Paul was anti-Torah and the cause for Christianity’s foundational anti-Torah ideology. I agree it is true that misinterpretation of the New Testament, most notably Paul’s epistles, is the reason for the anti-Torah mindset of Christianity. There is absolutely no doubt about it. Paul’s writings are a major reason for the Torah hatred found within Christianity. HOWEVER, it is not because of Paul. It is instead because of a severe misinterpretation of Paul caused by ignorance of Torah and Judaic context among those who wrongly consider Paul as being anti-Torah.

Herein lies an absolutely astounding fact. The very same reasons Christianity so terribly misinterprets Paul and promotes an anti-Torah agenda are also why allegedly pro-Torah anti-Paulists become haters of Paul!

It truly is amazing! In both situations precisely the same errors are found. It is for that reason that this article could apply just as directly to refuting the anti-Torah foundations of Christianity caused by their incorrect understanding of Paul’s epistles. Thus, this article applies equally to both serious errors and could be used if you wish to attempt to prove to Christians that the New Testament is not anti-Torah.

I will present one example of Judaic, Torah-centric thought from the many examples that exists. Therefore, before I explain the reasons why people develop an anti-Paul mindset, let me first quote from page 107 of the book, In the Shadow of the Ladder, by Mark and Yedidah Cohen. That book is a translation of some of the writings of Rabbi Yehudah Lev Ashlag, a highly revered Judaic sage of the twentieth century (may his name be for a blessing). Rabbi Ashlag is a profoundly gifted man – a tzaddik of merit – through whom much benefit to mankind has been provided. The same can be said of many other gifted Torah scholars, such as Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto, Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan, Rabbi Bachya ibn Paquada, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, etc. The list of such men is long. May all their names be for a blessing!

“… but the measure of the strength of the light of Torah directly accords with the degree of a person’s belief. But for those who lack this faith, the reverse happens: ‘For those who use it wrongly, it becomes the drug of death,’ for they receive darkness from Torah and their eyes are dimmed.”

Note that Rabbi Ashlag refers to a situation in which Torah can be a “drug of death” and that from Torah one can “receive darkness” and have “their eyes dimmed”. Note also the focus on “belief” and “faith”.

Wow! A Judaic rabbi claiming that Torah is a “drug of death”? Torah can cause “darkness” and result in one’s eyes being “dimmed”? There is nothing Paul writes that exceeds the apparent “anti-Torah” statements from that Rabbi. Well, if you think the Rabbi’s words are anti-Torah, then you are wrong. Rabbi Ashlag is most certainly NOT anti-Torah. Can Torah be a “drug of death”, etc.? Well, indeed it can but only if studied and practiced with the wrong intent and in an improper manner, and you can find numerous similar statements within Judaic PRO-TORAH writings that to the untrained eye could be wrongly judged as anti-Torah.

From chapter two of the the aforementioned book, In the Shadow of the Ladder, we find further proof of parallels to Paul and the actual New Testament teachings (versus what Christianity falsely claims it teaches). On page 27 of that book we find:

“Rabbi Ashlag emphasizes the importance of allowing our study to affect our behavior in practice. Without the constant attention on our inner intentions, our work in Torah and mitzvot (i.e. good deeds, commandments) has little meaning. He decried the misuse of Torah and the empty practice of the mitzvot so common among the religious establishment. Outer ritual carried out without the intention of service is the drug of death, he declared. This attitude stirred up opposition but he did not react, preferring to continue his true work of writing and teaching.”

So here we have a two statements of many similar statements found within Judaic literature that basically says much the same thing that Paul said within a few scattered verses of his epistles. In both cases the focus is on faith and not on attacking the Torah. In fact, the “faith” discussions within Judaic writings are much more comprehensive than are the limited teachings found in Paul’s epistles or the rest of the New Testament. Note also that just like Paul, Messiah Yeshua, and Yeshua’s other followers mentioned in the New Testament, Ashlag was often opposed by his contemporaries. The same can be said for other rabbis who went against the status quo of Judaism’s establishment. Such information shows that Judaic writings actually prove crucially useful in properly interpreting Paul’s words (and the entire New Testament).

But, as I will elaborate upon later when discussing the laziness of anti-Paulists (and Christians), very few ever reference such material to better grasp the intent of Paul’s epistles, and because of that Paul has been misrepresented for 2000 years by Christianity. Now he is not only misrepresented, but he is also slanderously and savagely attacked by anti-Paulists. And in both cases the reasons are identical: a severe ignorance of Paul’s intent because of Torah illiteracy.

There are lots of similar examples found all throughout Judaic writings, and I list books among the first of those shown on the “Recommended Reading” page of this site in which numerous Judaic parallels to Paul’s epistles can be found. Ponder this example. Many such books exists if you care to reference them. I will revisit this later in the discussion.

Now on to the reasons for anti-Paulism.

Reasons 1 through 3: Ignorance of Torah, rejection of “Oral” Torah, and ignorance of the rabbinic method

I lump the first three reasons together because they are so intertwined. Simply put, together they constitute reason one – “Ignorance of Torah”. However, in order to facilitate useful discussion it is best to distinguish them somewhat.

Ok, this is where you must pause and – if you haven’t done so already – read the “Oral Torah” discussion. That discourse is primarily aimed at refuting the typical anti-Torah mindset of Christianity; however, everything contained within it applies equally and directly to the anti-Paulist mindset. If you do not read it, the impact of the other reasons for anti-Paulism will not be fully grasped.

It is a lengthy exploration, but in order to comprehend these three fundamental and foremost reasons for anti-Paulism you simply have to understand the material contained within the other article. I am sorry, but it is simply crucial for you to read that material. If you do not, then there is no reason to read further within the present discussion since you will not be aware of the most severe errors common to the anti-Paulism agenda.

Assuming that you have read the “Oral Torah” discussion …

Concluding this portion of the study we discover the following: By failing to properly define Torah and by rejecting Oral Torah it is the anti-Paulists who are actually the ones teaching against Torah. Paul supports it, but they oppose it even as they cluelessly claim the opposite! It is a truly astounding fact, and one that represents the chief irony within the entire anti-Paulism agenda.

That irony is that even though anti-Paulists attack Paul for being anti-Torah, they are actually the ones who are anti-Torah! He promotes Torah, but they are too ignorant of Torah to know that he does so.

Reasons 4 and 5: The “Easy” Path Selection, Prideful Arrogance, and fundamental Laziness of Anti-Paulists

I again have combined separate reasons why people become anti-Paulists, and like the first three, I did so because of how they are closely interrelated.

4. Paul is an easy target – a scapegoat for the mentally sluggish and lazy

There is no doubt that a cursory glance or simple reading of the New Testament can lead a person to conclude that the apostle Paul was, at best, a very liberal interpretor of Torah or, at worst, completely anti-Torah. There is no doubt about this. A simple reading could understandably lead a person to see Paul as anti-Torah. But notice that I said a “cursory glance” and “simple reading” leads one to such conclusions.

Reading the New Testament in a “simple” manner is what I will call an “easy” reading. The problem with an “easy” reading is that it is also an “uneducated” and “ignorant” reading. And therein lies the problem with the anti-Paulist and Christian belief that Paul taught against Torah. They both read the New Testament from a position of basic, far-reaching ignorance – ignorance that was discussed in the first three reasons for anti-Paulism.

I covered anti-Paulist and Christian ignorance already within the Oral Torah discussion and will not delve into it again. That level of stern ultra-ignorance causes anti-Paulists to see Paul as an easy target – the primary contributor and cause of Christianity’s anti-Torah foundation. Likewise, that exact same ignorance of the exact same fundamentals is, without doubt, the cause of Christianity’s anti-Torah foundations. But as I proved previously in the aforementioned article, the problem is due to ignorance. It is not due to Paul.

It is roughly equivalent to blaming a gun for murder.  The gun did nothing wrong.  It is an object without a brain that cannot move or function without an external influence.  Guns do not kill.  People do.  The gun did not murder.  A person did.  Just as anti-gun fanatics are quick to blame the gun for death and injury and often just as quick to defend or excuse the actual shooter, anti-Paulists are quick to blame Paul for the “eternal influence” of Christian misinterpretation of his writings.

The apostle Peter directly warns against the exact misinterpretation that is practiced by anti-Paulists who blame him for Christianity’s errors.  We find this in 2 Peter 3:15,16.  Quoting from the NET bible, we find:

15 And regard the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as also our dear brother Paul wrote to you, according to the wisdom given to him, 16 speaking of these things in all his letters. Some things in these letters are hard to understand, things the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they also do to the rest of the scriptures.

Paul’s material is undoubtedly “hard to understand”.  Nevertheless, the letters from the one Peter calls a “dear brother” are, indeed, twisted by “ignorant and unstable” anti-Paulists and Christians whose lack of Torah knowledge causes them to misunderstand Paul’s intent.

Amazingly, the exact warning Peter provides is ignored by Christians and anti-Paulists as they commit the precise error Peter mentions!

So Paul is the scapegoat for anti-Paulists who are too ignorant and untaught to properly interpret Paul’s epistles. They are fools who have been lead by the fools who came before them – a perfect example of “the blind leading the blind”. The reason for this is their mental sluggishness – their basic laziness. And that leads to the closely associated reason for anti-Paulism of …

5. Laziness: The “Fast Food” spiritual mentality of “I want an answer cheap and I want it now!

Recall from the start of this article I stated the following:

I am firmly convinced that the most crucial factor necessary to grasp truth is a proper mindset – a correct context from which to approach Scripture. If a person has the wrong mindset there is no way they will ever learn truth. No matter how much debate, arguing, or presentation of material, without a correct mindset it is all for naught.

I eventually realized that the problem is not the proofs or lack thereof; the problem is a severely flawed mindset being applied by them.

If the mindset is not proper, any time spent refuting their arguments is wasted.

Therefore, my approach is not to refute specific arguments. Instead, I aim to illustrate how their incorrect mindset is the root of the entire problem regarding whether or not the New Testament, and Paul’s epistles, are anti-Torah. If a person corrects their approach to HOW they study Scripture, and repairs their faulty mindset they apply to those studies, then the problem resolves itself. However, this is true only if one is sincerely seeking truth and willing to undertake what may be a lengthy series of study. It will require dedication – the likes of which most people rarely pursue. And it will require the reading of books – possibly numerous books – to finally decipher and discover the mindset necessary. If you are unwilling to do that, then please do not claim that you love God or Messiah since if you are not even willing to study a few books you obviously do not love them.

The sages wisely state, “Study is the highest form of worship.”, and they are absolutely correct. Willingness of a person to undertake intense study in their search for truth is the most powerful evidence existing of one’s devotion to The Eternal Father. Unwillingness is evidence of the opposite.

This fifth reason is most applicable to my statement of, “It will require dedication – the likes of which most people rarely pursue. And it will require the reading of books – possibly numerous books – to finally decipher and discover the mindset necessary.” In other words, it takes personal effort and commitment to properly understand the Bible, and since the New Testament is a particularly acute example of a writing that is grossly misinterpreted, the effort required is most necessary and relevant to it.

To properly interpret the New Testament – and of course Paul’s epistles – one must first UN-learn, or literally erase from their minds, the egregious false teachings promoted by Christianity before they can even begin to learn the actual teachings.

Unfortunately, very few people are willing to remove their Christian bias or undertake the necessary study. They are often raised in the immature, novice, and shallow study techniques and habits of Christianity and are often unwilling or incapable of pursuing truth with the necessary level of tenacity and effort.

“Fast food” is a perfect analogy. I have no problem with the consumption of fast food. It is possible to get a relatively low priced healthy meal if proper selections are made from the menu. Nevertheless, the reasons people feast upon fast food are because it is often rather cheap, they are too lazy to prepare a meal themselves, or they simply do not have the time to do so. Basically, they want their food cheap and they want it quickly. Note that:

  1. Too lazy
  2. Cheap (requires very little investment)
  3. Do not have time (or do not want to invest the time)
  4. Impatience (they want it NOW! QUICKLY!)

The exact same situation is present in those who become victims of anti-Paulism. And of course it is also the same situation found within Christianity in general and a primary reason for the infestation of error within that faith system. All four of those reasons, when applied to this discussion, break down into the single problem of laziness. Anti-Paulists and those foolish enough to become ensnared by them are extraordinarily lazy in their efforts to discover Truth.

The best way to describe this reason is by way of example. I will present an actual example using an individual of the past who perfectly illustrates this problem. He also exhibits the additional problem of pride, which is often an underlying cause of the laziness common to anti-Paulists. I will refrain from use of his actual name and will instead refer to him as “Judas”. Judas exhibited all the components that define the laziness problem. He was an ideal candidate for anti-Paulists and, as a result, became one. I hope he eventually repents of his laziness and sincerely seeks truth.

It began with Judas contacting me relative to what he had seen on the website. He agreed with, specifically, the proofs I share regarding the fact that Yeshua is not the Eternal Creator. He also recognized that Christianity is filled with error. He sought further communication, and thus our association started.

He and I communicated many times through both email and real-time phone conversations. We spent hours on the phone – at times up to and beyond two hours in length. I learned that he had been a celebrity of sorts within the Christian entertainment community – the profane “Christian rock” nonsense that is but one of many examples of evangelical Christian paganism, ignorance, and irreverence. He had toured with this “Christian” band and even made appearances on Christian television. He had mingled with some of Christianity’s most well known personalities and had “friends in high places” within Christianity’s elite. His described his brother as a high ranking executive in a major worldwide Christian ministry. The individual whom I am using as an example of the laziness problem had since, thankfully and to his merit, divested himself of that lifestyle, realized the vanity it represents, and is now a successful businessman no longer participating in such foolishness.

His experiences within evangelical Christianity and the hypocrisy it often contains had left him with a spiritual emptiness and disgust. He was searching for answers and found insight on the website, after which he emailed me. At first I was excited and thankful to have come across such a person. He seemed genuinely desirous of truth, and I did my best to assist in his search.

Over and over and over and over … and did I say over and over? … I would encourage him and remind him that truth is not as simple as Christianity presents it to be and that his search would not be easy or quick. This is particularly true and worsened by the fact that in order for someone from deep within contemporary Christianity’s grasp to find truth they must first UNlearn the wide ranging false teachings of that corrupted faith. Such people are quite literally in need of “deprogramming” and spiritual detoxification. It is worse than if a person starts from no faith at all. At least in such a case the newly formed believer has very little bias or preconceived notions. The tons of false teaching baggage is not present in a person who was not previously within Christianity. With a longtime Christian the condition is most severe.

It is much like a race. For a person with no bias the race begins where it should – at the starting line. But a person with Christian baggage is so far behind the starting line that winning is much more difficult. It is as if they are not even in the stadium where the race is to be held! They must first work themselves to the starting line before they can even begin the race.

A Christian must – I repeat – MUST dispose of every remnant of bias or assumption before they can begin to learn the actual truth the New Testament presents.

Most Christians will not or cannot dispose of their Christian baggage. Only a tiny fraction of Christians are actually humble, sincere, and devoted enough to truly find truth, and the overriding factor contributing to this is the inability or refusal to cast aside bias that was absorbed by them during their time as a traditional Christian.

Early on in my communication with Judas I began to sense something was awry, but I did not mention it in hope that I would be proven wrong. He seemed to have not really divested himself at all of the mindset of his evangelical past (note that I said mindset). No matter how much we talked he would often bring up the same questions or express the same frustrations. It was as though I was talking to a man with no ears. He still possessed a simple-minded thought process and appeared to not appreciate the depth of truth even though he agreed with what I said during our conversations. His simpleton mindset did not budge. He maintained a determination to find answers but only if he could do so quickly and effortlessly despite my repeated statements that such was not possible.

I would spend much of the time we talked emphasizing the need to study and to be patient. I told him how he had far to go and that perseverance was required. He would always agree and thank me for the encouragement, but all the while I feared that he was being disingenuous and had no intention of devoting himself to study as is needed.

Of course, I recommended books to assist him, and he even purchased some of them. So when we talked I would ask if he had any questions regarding what he was reading. It quickly became apparent to me that he wasn’t reading them, and if he was it was not in the sense of studying them and deeply contemplating what was written. Relatively simple and short books that should have take him only a few days to read were not completed weeks later. He was lazy, and I knew his spiritual condition was faltering.

Among the items we discussed at length was the issue being addressed in this article – anti-Paulism. I shared with him what is present in this discussion and more. In each conversation he again expressed agreement. However, I knew what I said was basically bouncing off his head and that little I shared was really sinking into his intellect.

Then came, many weeks into our association, the last fateful phone call. He had visited a particularly loathsome anti-Paulist site which is filled with many pages – basically an on-line book – of nonsense and defective arguments as well as the normal Torah ignorance common to anti-Paulists. During that last call he was almost breathless with anxiety about Paul. It was evident he had swallowed every nonsensical and stupid argument put forth by the fool who authors that site, and the reason is because such arguments are “easy” and do not require any real depth of Torah understanding which he obviously neither had nor desired to obtain since it requires study he was too lazy to undertake. The easier path for Judas was to just accept the asinine anti-Paulists idiocy present on that site.

I tried to again inform him of what I share in this article, but his response is why I utilize him as an example for the “fast food” mentality. And, of course, I had already prepared him for such lame-brained arguments many times, but it was as though he had heard nothing I had previously said during hours upon hours of conversation.

He was lazy. I had suspected it all along, but our final phone call proved it. He had no intention of undertaking study that would have to last beyond a few days. He wanted quick answers, and the anti-Paulist site provided that since it required no education of “Torah” as I defined above. Every single error of anti-Paulism is advanced by that site, and Judas was being lead into it by his own laziness and desire for quick answers.

As a person previously entrenched in some of the most shallow and ignorant of Christian organizations, he was unable to abandon that shallowness and impatience. He even said as much during that final call when he asked?

“How can a person ever find truth if it takes so much effort?

However, the actual mindset and intent of his question – the real question he was asking – which was implicitly obvious to me from the time we shared during previous communication was:

“How can a person effortlessly and quickly find truth? I want answers cheap, and I want them now! I do not wish to devote the time and effort!”

He then requested that I spend months of dedicated effort of my own to respond entirely to the many idiotic points within the online book that is present on that anti-Paulists site. I felt to do so was pointless since he should have already been well prepared to recognize the errors of such a site based upon our previous discussions. I also do not wish to waste precious time directly refuting such nonsensical lunacy. Instead, I focus upon helping people change their mindset and basic approach which will then provide them the knowledge to see the errors on their own without depending upon others for discernment. He wanted me to do the thinking for him since he was too negligent to undertake what is actually his own personal responsibility.

He was in need of a total overhaul of his contextual mindset. But as long as he maintained his prideful laziness, it was impossible. As I stated at the start of this article:

“… I often get correspondence from people who are being assailed by anti-Paulists, who are considering becoming an anti-Paulist, or who already are an anti-Paulist. … I eventually realized that the problem is not the proofs or lack thereof; the problem is a severely flawed mindset being applied by them.

… Obviously, batting away pitch after pitch thrown my way by Christians and anti-Paulists only caused more pitches to be thrown. It was and is fruitless and a waste of time. That is why I will no longer waste time with those who obviously need to totally restructure their entire mindset. … Such people are quite literally in need of a complete overhaul of HOW they think. They need to change the WAY they think by learning the correct contextual mindset that should be applied to Scripture. If the mindset is not proper, any time spent refuting their arguments is wasted. As the saying goes, “a man convinced against his will is a man of the same opinion still.” The “will” is driven by the contextual approach – the mindset. That must first be corrected before truth can be conveyed. …”

Since he had put forth virtually no effort the entire time we had been associated despite the many hours I had invested to assist him, his question was quite frustrating to hear. He was full of talk, but void of any real desire to seek truth. He, like so many others who share his laziness, actually consider truth to be “cheap” though they would never admit to it. It is not worth their effort. Try as they may to prove that they do not cheapen truth, the mere fact that they are slothful, refusing to dedicate themselves to the necessary study, is proof-positive that they place a low value on truth. They cheapen the most glorious and valuable of all that exist – the eternal teachings of The Almighty Creator.

Judas was and is a lazy neophyte who had no intention of humbling himself and seeking after God with the devotion required. All his appearances of being sincere were just that, appearances. In truth he was a hypocrite playing religion just as he had when in the Christian rock band many years ago.

What made it all the more tragic is that the time he had spent on that anti-Paulist website of lies and ignorance could have been spent studying the material he and I had often discussed as needing study. But his pride would not let him admit his ignorance and need to learn fundamentals. He had reached too high a position among the “celebrities” of Christianity to lower himself to the position of someone who knows little.

Even his anti-Paulist beliefs are hypocritical. Anti-Paulists are generally what they are because they recognize the need for Torah – though they do not know what Torah is – and wrongly believe Paul was anti-Torah. For Judas to claim to revere Torah is a lie since I know from conversations we had on Sabbaths that he was working; thus, a basic Torah teaching – prohibition from work on the sabbath – was something he did not practice. He was every bit a hypocrite as he was during his days in a profane Christian rock band. He was and probably still is simply seeking “religion”, and I mean that in the negative sense. He is just playing some religious game and claiming to be sincere. I hope he repents and truly devotes himself to The Eternal.

Laziness and the desire for quick answers are like two bullets to the spiritual heart of a person. Such people will never find the truth because they are too slothful to do so. Anti-Paulism (and also Christianity) is a common destination for such people since it does not require study or an actual knowledge of Torah – knowledge that often cannot be obtained in only a matter of hours, days, or even months.

Understanding Torah is a never ending process. There is always more to learn, more to uncover. The basics can be learned relatively quickly, but most people, such as Judas, are not even willing to study for a few months to find it. And when I say study, I do mean study. It requires a level of dedication for at least a few months to become Torah rooted in a basic way, and even then the roots are very shallow and need to grow deeper.

Laziness. The “fast food” spiritual mentality. They are two of the most destructive weapons in the arsenal of spiritual deception, and anti-Paulists possess and utilize both, as does Christianity.

6: A serious and naive lack of intelligence and acceptance of nonsensical and weak arguments

I itemized a few examples of the faulty arguments put forth by anti-Paulists within the earlier list of reasons for anti-Paulism and, as noted within that enumeration, will not elaborate at this time.  Frankly, I prefer to not lower myself to their level by even wasting time on such trivial rubbish that anti-Paulists often put forth.  I will only say that many of the arguments used by anti-Paulists are so nonsensical and ludicrous that they show those who accept them to be either of very low intellect or among the most naive humans who occupy space on planet earth.  The extreme bias of anti-Paulists causes them to often accept insanely idiotic opinions that leaves one wondering how they could be so gullible so as to accept such ultra-biased mindless perspectives.

7: Prideful arrogance and a tunnel-vision approach

This reason requires no explanation. It is a simple fact that prideful arrogance and a tunnel-vision approach to anything related to Paul in the New Testament creates a fanatical stubbornness of mind that blinds anti-Paulists from seeing beyond their bias. They have a rigidly biased interpretation of Paul’s epistles because of which they refuse to consider alternate interpretations. Nothing more need be said. It is a simple fact that anti-Paulists are generally incapable of seeing past their own self-blinding and mind-closing bias.

8. A Primary Intent of Paul’s Epistles

There are three things – and only three – that are really “new” in the “New” Testament, and those three items constitute a major thrust of Paul’s writings:

  1. The specific identity of Messiah (specifically Messiah ben Yosef) and his role as a “completed tzaddik”,
  2. The truth regarding how non-Jews (gentiles) have equal access to the world to come (eternal life) and that The Eternal One is an impartial God,
  3. That one does not have to “become a Jew” to merit the world to come nor to be counted among the “Israel” of God; however, do not equate “become a Jew” with Torah reverence. They are two entirely distinct issues.

Strictly speaking, only the first is totally absent in Judaic thought. The other two are mildly present but, nevertheless, quite differently taught and much lessened within Judaism due to the elitism and exclusivity that are definitely found in Judaism’s teachings.

I have not found any of these principles taught within Judaic writings with the same emphasis or detail as in the New Testament. For sure, the New Testament does “open the door” much more so to non-Jews than does Judaism.

I personally consider the absence of those three components within Judaic ideology as being among Judaism’s worst errors. I can understand the absence of the first item, but the lack of presence or the much weakened presence of items 2 and 3 are particularly problematic and a primary reason, in my opinion, of God’s continued chastisement of the Jewish people. Of course I have other issues with Judaism, but those three are among the worst. Some of their legal (halacha) teachings are a bit much also.
